Top Best 50 Ubuntu Opensource Applications For Design

I just seen this post on digg, List of the 50 best opensource applications for Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Kubuntu and Fluxbuntu.

It got hundreds of diggs, but I wonder, why is it the Ubuntu list? I run almost all of these in Gentoo as well.

So I wonder, why is it the author defines it with some distro name?

I'm afraid that Linux might go the pass of podcasting, when people believe that they need an iPod to listen to one. It may happen with Ubuntification of Linux.

The future will tell.

That is a very real problem: People seem to think they use "ubuntu" instead of "linux". It kinda remind of older times when people asked whether KDE applications could be run on GNOME as well.

I totally agree. It surprises even when you say in a job interview that you do know Linux, they ask "Oh, how much experience with Red Hat do you have then?"

When I say I have an experience, but not with RH, they say "Hm, you said you knew Linux, did you lie?"

Just shows how experienced and professional they are.

Yeah, soon in "certifications" the right answer to "How do you install software on linux?" is "Click on the package in Synaptic".
