In Compiz 0.6.0, the new Cube plug-in additions include transparency support, basic background support, and support for non-power-of-two sky dome textures. There is also now plug-ins for Glib, Ini, Fs (FUSE), and Video.
I've started using Compiz not long ago - it still has glitches and problems, but it has 2 major points going for it:
1. It uses my graphics card for rendering; and
2. As a result all my graphics is very smooth and pleasant to the eye. No more artifacts...I'm happy.

AMD: GPU Specifications Without NDAs!
AMD will release their GPU specifications to open-source developers without any NDAs! Therefore, the specifications will be completely in the open for the community to use without the NonDisclosure restrictions. Good job ATI/AMD!
Finally, OSS community will have the specs to work on. I hope that this could actually make my choice options wider for the time I buy my next computer...
